Full Licence - DAS
There are three routes to a Full Motorcycle Licence:
From 17 you can take the category ‘A1’ test on a 125 cubic capacity (cc) motorcycle.
From 19 you can take the category ‘A2’ on a larger cc motorcycle – normally 500cc.
From 24 (or 2 years after passing the A2) you can take an A test (full motorcycle licence).
A1 Licence
For the A1 licence, you must be at least 17 years old and complete the required 'module' tests on a 125cc motorcycle. Once you've passed, your riding will be limited to 125cc motorcycles.
A2 Licence
To earn an A2 licence, you need to be 19 years or older and successfully complete the 'module' tests on a motorcycle with up to 47bhp. After passing, you'll be eligible to ride bikes with a maximum of 47bhp.
Full A Licence
To obtain your full category A licence, you must either be 24 years old or have held the A2 licence for two years. You'll need to complete the 'module' tests on a motorcycle with at least 54bhp, typically a 600cc bike. Once you've passed, you're free to ride motorcycles of any engine size.
The Test: Module One & Module Two
The practical motorcycle test is divided into two components, making it a bit more challenging than before. However, this format, we believe, produces better and safer riders. Our high pass rate for both modules has earned us accolades from examiners at our local test centre. Known as Module One and Module Two, you must first pass Module One to be eligible for Module Two.
Module One takes place on a spacious circuit at a local DVSA test centre. It involves various manoeuvers designed to evaluate your motorcycle handling skills in different scenarios—like the 'U' turn, figure of eight, and an evasive 'swerve and stop' exercise. Once you clear Module One, you can proceed to Module Two, which assesses your road-riding capabilities through a 40-minute ride.
Prerequisites for Training
To begin training for a full license, you'll need to have passed the motorcycle theory test and possess a valid CBT certificate. If your CBT is expired or you don't have one, we can incorporate CBT training into the Direct Access package. You can book theory tests by calling 0300 200 1122 or online at gov.uk/book-driving-test. We also offer learning resources to help you prepare for the theory test.
Training Options for Full License
